Kameron Hurley makes a living as a technical and creative writer at a financial services firm and freelances fiction on the side. She subsists mainly on diet Coke and Chipotle burritos.
Kameron spent a year and a half in South Africa getting an MA. Her thesis examined the use of propaganda in the recruitment of female guerrilla fighters by the ANC's armed resistance wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe ("Spear of the Nation").
She's a travel junkie, and lived in Alaska for a couple of years, grew up in Washington State, did a couple tours of Europe where she spent some time in France, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, and England. Also did some time in New Zealand looking for brides to bungee jump from, lived in Chicago for four years pretending to be a respectable adult, and currently lives in Ohio, the reality of which doesn't quite make up for the cost of living. You can follow her personal and professional exploits at her blog.
